Burdens

"Cast your burden upon the LORD and He shall sustain you. He shall never allow the righteous to be moved." - Psalm 55:22

A burden is something that is carried or held onto, whether it was passed on to us or we reached out for it.

None of us had any interest in carrying this current burden of the day, it was simply put upon us. Yet, it has caused us to change much of what we do and have planned and live for. God, through the psalmist is encouraging us to cast this burden upon Him. A vivid rendition of "cast" is to hurl or fling.

The Apostle Peter also tells us to cast all of our cares upon Him, for He cares for us. When we believe and trust that God is for us, we won't be moved or shaken. [1 Peter 5:7, Psalm 124:2]. He has given us over 8,000 promises in His Word!

Jesus invites those of us who are heavy laden to come to Him and get rest for our souls. Take His yoke upon you, for His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. His commandments are not burdonsome.

My burden is not my cross, but that which weighs me down or slows my progress. It might appear in the form of some sin which besets me, unbelief, doubt, fear, depression, or some uneasiness or impatience of the moment.

Give it to Jesus. Trust Him to take it. He will place His yoke upon you and give you rest for your soul. "For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." - Matthew 11:30

"In the day of my trouble, I will call upon You, for You will answer me." - Psalm 86:16

You have a direct line of access through prayer, and God is never too busy to take your call (read Jeremiah 33:3.)

The Beginning Of Faith

Genesis 12 In the book of Genesis, chapter 11, the main characteristic of people of the world was that they wanted to make a name for themselves. God, however, was looking for a man who would trust Him, so He chose Abram from Ur of the Chaldees in Mesopotamia. He would later call this man "Abraham", the father of our faith. First, however, Abram must become a child of faith and learn to walk and live by faith. Abraham's faith had to have a beginning! I Am Coming To Your House Today

Luke 19:10 As Jesus passed through Jericho, there was a rich tax-collector named Zaccheus who was trying to see Jesus. The crowd blocked his view, because he was not very tall. But his faith enabled him to rise above the difficulty; Zaccheus ran and climbed up a tree in order to see Jesus.  Jesus made eye contact with him and said, “Zaccheus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”  So he received the Lord with joy.
