Strengthened
Hezekiah was a king who was "strengthened by God." That is what his name means. His words in 2 Chronicles 32 encouraged the people.
They needed that encouragement because Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, had come to Judah and encamped around the city, thinking to win it for himself. He is a type of our adversary, the devil, who has come to kill, steal and destroy.
Sennacherib spoke discouraging words. He asked the people of God, "On whom are you trusting?" He mocked the words of God, and spoke to frighten and terrify the people. But our God is not like the gods of men.
Let's hear Hezekiah's encouragement to the people of Judah: "Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles." And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah." - 2 Chronicles 32:7-8
God wants us to have more faith in His power to deliver than in the enemy's ability to destroy. The One with us is greater than the one with him. On Whom are you trusting?
Let's trust the Lord together.
